What is the CENSUS?
Every 10 years, the federal government is legally required to count every person living in the country, regardless of citizenship status, as part of the U.S. CENSUS.
The government also uses CENSUS data to draw district lines and determine how many seats each state will get in the House of Representatives.
The CENSUS is used to determine funding for vital government programs such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Medicaid, Affordable Housing, Headstart, and more.
Why should all Californians complete the CENSUS?
A complete and accurate count of California’s population is essential. The data collected by the CENSUS determines the number of seats each state has in the U.S. House of Representatives and is used to distribute billions of dollars in federal funds to state and local governments.
By Completing 10 simple quesions, you can help your community receive more funding for building better roads and schools, community programs for seniors, children, and families, improve housing, and create more jobs.
